Jörg Raulin, K/C Kunststoffspritzerei und Formenbau Oberkrämer: “Our product will then give us a competitive advantage because we use a bioplastic. We have simply committed ourselves to it. Because it makes a huge difference whether I use concrete or a biopolymer.”
Prof. Johannes Ganster, Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Polymer Research: “This is very strongly determined by the market, whether something is accepted at a price at which it can be produced. A lot of patience is certainly required. Some producers of polylactic acids, for example, have been able to hold on for many years and have artificially lowered prices until the time came when the development reached a point where it was profitable to sell the products. That is all part of the process: you put it into motion, you make investments and at some point you are making a profit.”
Prof. Alexander Böker, Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Polymer Research: “Nevertheless, now is the right time to start working on new developments and to keep working on them because sooner or later that very point will come.”
