Brandenburg Dialogue for the Future

Since 2005, the Representation of the State of Brandenburg, in cooperation with Brandenburg InvestVDI Berlin-Brandenburg and pro Brandenburg, has organised the “Dialogue for the Future”. It is a series of events in the framework of which experts from the fields of economy and politics discuss current topics that are of special importance to the scientific and economic community alike.

Recap: 27th Dialogue for the Future on the topic “How Do Aircraft Engines of Tomorrow Look like? Innovations from the Aerospace Region Brandenburg and Berlin”

On 12 April 2018 approximately 80 guests came to the Representation of the State of Brandenburg to discuss this special, highly-technological and visionary topic. After a very informative keynote speech by Heiko Witte (Rolls Royce), which was filled to the brim with interesting facts, participants were given the opportunity to discuss current and new technologies and how they could open up opportunities for reaching climate goals while being sufficiently economical at the same time. The discussions took place directly on the podium and were based on the many questions asked by the audience.

The podium discussions were directed by Steffen Kammradt (Manager of Brandenburg Invest); among the participants were Minister Albrecht Gerber, Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy of the State of Brandenburg, Hinrich Becker, MTU Maintenance Berlin-Brandenburg GmbH, Prof. Heinz Peter Berg, Brandenburg University of Technology, and Heiko Witte, Rolls-Royce Deutschland Ltd & Co KG.

Recap: the 26th Dialogue for the Future looked at the future of our nutrition

The already 26th Dialogue for the Future focused on the topic “The Future of Our Nutrition – Innovations from Brandenburg“ and invited guests to have an interesting discussion on these issues: what alternative nutritional models and business models are currently being developed by the industry and agriculture mainly with regard to proteins and which framework conditions can and should be provided by the field of politics in order to promote the development of a more sustainable food production? Proteins were used as an example during the discussions.

The podium discussions were directed by Steffen Kammradt (Manger of Brandenburg Invest); among the participants were the State Secretary Henrik Fischer, Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy of the State of Brandenburg, Elisabeth Bunder, Head of the Division for Ecological Farming and Agri-Environmental Measures at the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture, Prof. Sascha Rohn, Chairperson of the Institute for Food and Environmental Research, Potsdam-Rehbrücke, Heinrich Katz, Manager of Hermetia Baruth GmbH, and Prof. Sonoko Dorothea Bellingrath-Kimura, Head of the Institute of Land Use Systems at the Leibniz Centre for Agricultural Landscape Research (ZALF).

At the beginning of her keynote speech, Prof. Bellingrath-Kimura provided interesting input on the importance and the effects of growing legumes for a sustainable use of agricultural landscapes.

Later on, during the reception in the atrium, the guests could marvel at new protein products and engage in lively interactions.
